The Red Power Squad is a performing group from Edmonton Alberta Canada.
Formed in early 1998 by founder Conway Kootenay, the RPS was designed to
give innercity youth a way out of all the negativity that they faced on a
daily basis.
Almost 10 years later the RPS has exploded into a world wide success. With
top notch Traditional Native Dance combined with Emcee, b boys/b girl
skills that are second to none, the RPS will leave you with a high octane
performance that is hard to forget.
Some of the notable accomplishments the RPS have are: performing at the
2000 and 2003 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, 2002, 2006, 2008 Opening
Ceramonies of the North American Indigenous Games, a recently national
televised performance at the 2007 National Aboriginal Achievment Awards and
2008 Mayors Night of the arts.
The RPS has hundreds of performances on a global scale from South Korea to
San Diego, along with 2 full length albums and the recent release of there
second music video for the new Conway K single "lose control".
The RPS is currently working on a show DVD that will have footage from
performances dating back to 1996 till now, and a recent release of the new
Conway K album "here to stay" which the group is now tourning North America
to promote.
